History

The Inn is a restored old summer estate, built by a Chicago industrialist in the 1900’s and restored in 1989. Garth is a middle-English term for enclosed garden, which is exactly what was created when restoration began on January 1, 1989.

Over the years, the Pine Garth has come to enjoy numerous accolades and is recognized as one of the Best Bed and Breakfast’s in the Midwest. The Inn is located on a pristine 200’ private stretch of Lake Michigan beach. With spectacular lake views, the Pine Garth is recognized by Midwest Living Magazine as the #1 spot to watch the sunset.

Over the past 15 years, the Pine Garth has taken care in developing a unique venue for the perfect year-round getaway. The Inn and its surrounding Guest Houses, Carriage House and Villa House are located on 3.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The Inn has 7 charming rooms, all named and with their own personalities. The 5 Guest Houses are some of the finest in Harbor Country with wood floors, decks, hot tubs and fireplaces catering to families or perfect for a relaxing couples getaway. The Carriage House is romantic, private and cozy.
With spectacular lake views, the Pine Garth is recognized by Midwest Living Magazine as the #1 destination to recommend to a friend and the #1 spot to watch the sunset.

The things that set the Pine Garth apart from other Inns are the personal touches. There are fresh cut flowers in each room of the Inn. You’ll find dozens of colorful birdhouses hidden on the grounds. Homemade cookies and muffins served daily. The Inn has bikes for your leisure and a movie library for your enjoyment. Our beautiful sundecks gently wander to the water’s edge. And our staff is always available to assist with guest requests.

The Pine Garth is a peaceful and magical place that welcomes guests year after year, season after season. Join us for a relaxing and wonderful time.
